Casting Call

We are currently looking for supporting actors and extras for various scenes to be filmed in the Bay Area during weekends in May and/or June. If you or someone you know fits into one of these categories and would like to be an extra, send us an email at info(at)qiu-jin.com
- Asian men (able to pass for Chinese) with shaved heads, 20’s - 30’s yrs. old. Both non-speaking and Mandarin-speaking roles. We will need about 7-10 people to play soldiers and scholars.
Filming dates: May 10-11, 17-18 (Note: Extras do not need to be present for all days, most likely 1-2 days, 3-4 hours each day.)
Location: Santa Clara and San Jose - Asian men (able to pass for Chinese) with short or slicked back hair, 20’s - 30’s yrs. old. We will need about 10 people to play students.
Filming dates: May 10-11, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Location: Hakone Gardens, Saratoga - Asian women (able to pass for Chinese), 20’s - 30’s yrs. old. Able to speak Mandarin (basic level okay). We will need about 5 people to play students. We have filled all of these spots. Thanks for responding.

Location: Hakone Gardens, Saratoga - Asian women (able to pass for Chinese), teens - 30’s yrs. old with knowledge of wushu basics. All levels welcome, from beginner to advanced. We will need about 40 people to play soldiers training in the Women’s Army.
Filming date: Sunday, May 4, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Tilden Park, Berkeley - Asian men with shaved heads, 40’s-60’s yrs. old.

Sounds like fun- I’m an asian male in my 20’s, lots of martial arts background (though it doesn’t sound like you need it). I have short hair, so I think I fit in your 2nd bullet point.

I can quickly learn wushu. Speaks fluent cantonese. I am nearing 40; hopefully, that qualifies me in the #6 catagory. Can also be extras. Sounds like fun!

I am a 23yr old male, willing to shave his head for the part. I have practiced wushu and chinese traditional kung fu all my life. Athletic built. I speak fluent cantonese, and conversational in mandarin. Can be soldier or scholar. I have taken college basic drama courses.

I’m in the 40-60s age catagory.Would like to play an extra. Thank you. I speak Mandarin and practise Tai Chi. Used to take Chinese folk dance in high school and perform in the community until I picked up Tai Chi.

My sister Gin, who is also in her 20s and has basic Wushu training is interested in attending as an extra as well. Is this okay?
Is there a dress code?

I’ve been an extra in quite a few Indie Film projects and I know how to hang out all day on the set and follow instructions. I can’t shave my head but I’m down for any male part that allows me to keep my hair.

I would love to a part of this project. I am a native of San Francisco living in the South Bay. I speak english, fluent in Cantonese and can speak and understand some mandarin. I have martial arts background and will find not problem picking up Wu Shu if needed. I can play a part in point 6.

What an excellent and noble project! I am 40s Asian woman, can speak Cantonese and Mandarin, did wushu and Chinese folk dancing many years ago. Fit in category #6.
